Experience integrative chiropractic care at our Kareela Wholistic Health Centre

Our Kareela chiropractor Dr John Infante and remedial massage therapist Tamara Royal can co-manage your case to give you the greatest possible benefits from our treatments range.

If you’re suffering from headaches, back pain, neck pain or other forms of pain and discomfort, we welcome the opportunity to assess how chiropractic and remedial massage can help you and address your concerns.

You may be surprised at how well chiropractic care and remedial massage therapy can complement each other. Remedial Massage generates heat and loosens your muscles, which makes chiropractic care much more effective. This means your pain relief lasts even longer!

Once the joints are realigned, the soft tissues that have been addressed by the remedial massage techniques heal more rapidly and effectively.

During your first visit

When you visit our Kareela chiropractor for the first time, our friendly reception team will ask you to complete some paperwork.

You will then meet with your chiropractor and have the chance to discuss your symptoms, and discover their recommended treatment options and expected outcomes and results.

Our integrative approach to healthcare means your chiropractor may then ask several other questions to help them gain a full understanding of your health.

If chiropractic care is suitable you will then begin an initial examination and if not, we will refer you to the appropriate health care professional. Once the examination is complete, we will begin care.

It is important to allow enough time for your initial consultation. We recommend 40 minutes.

Common conditions treated by our Kareela chiropractor

If you’ve been experiencing pain in your daily life, our chiropractic and remedial massage team at Kareela can help.
Here are a few of the most common conditions we treat:

Upper back pain

Sitting at a desk for hours on end often can cause this condition, which is treatable by our Kareela chiropractor.

Mid back pain

Our chiropractor at Kareela looks at the muscles between your shoulder blades to reduce the tension that causes this pain.

Lower back pain

Injuries often cause lower back pain but it can also occur from other health conditions such as sciatica and arthritis.

Neck pain

Pain or stiffness that can be worsened if the head is held in one place for too long, such as driving or being at the computer.

Shoulder pain

We often find this type of pain is a result of the muscles that support the shoulder joint’s range of motion.

Knee pain

Often, knee pain is a result of muscle problems in the hip or leg, where muscle imbalances are the cause of irritation.

Migraines and headaches

A common condition treated at our Kareela chiropractor can be an extension of problems of the neck and mid to upper back.

Bad posture

Focused on identifying the joints and muscles affected to eliminate pain and return to good posture.

Macquarie University defines chiropractic as a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including spinal adjustment and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation.

New Zealand’s government inquiry found that chiropractic care is ‘remarkably safe’. Our conservative approach to health avoids invasive procedures and medications that may be addictive. Studies have shown that chiropractic care is 240 times safer than taking anti-inflammatory drugs in relation to treating back and neck pain.

Joints that are fixated, locked up or not moving properly need a precisely applied force to add motion to the problem area. A chiropractic adjustment may help your joints to regain motion and function.

Your spine can receive adjustments in many ways using a variety of methods. Dr John Infante (Chiropractor) has received university training and benefits from his clinical experience, offering you a range of adjusting approaches tailored to your condition and comfort.

Chiropractors are required to adhere to strict and extensive educational requirements and standards to become registered health professionals in Australia.  Australian chiropractors are five year university trained, and are government registered and government regulated health professionals.  A chiropractor’s education never ends. After entering practice, all CAA chiropractors must complete continuing professional development courses and seminars to upgrade and improve their skills and to stay current on the latest scientific research.

Chiropractors are five year university trained, government regulated and government registered healthcare professionals. The Australian Government has established a chiropractic regulating authority to ensure increased public safety for the Australian population. These bodies are responsible for maintaining the highest standards for all practitioners.  In order to maintain currency of registration with the Chiropractic Board of Australia, practitioners must maintain, enhance and extend their knowledge, expertise and competence throughout their careers in line with the changing needs of clients and society.

The simple answer is yes. An infant may undergo significant trauma at birth. Many parents bring their newborns in to have them checked for any spine-related problems. Modern chiropractic primarily involves the diagnosis and management of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system affecting all ages. Just as in the treatment of adults, when chiropractors are called on to care for children the treatment goals must not be in conflict with the best available clinical evidence. Commonly, a trial of treatment may be undertaken in such circumstances before making a final decision on the best course of management.

A bandage and comforting words may be all a skinned knee needs, but there may be underlying structural damage to the extremities, pelvis, spine and skull. Regular chiropractic checks may be able to identify problems early, avoiding complaints in the future. Naturally, the chiropractic adjustment is tailored to your infant or child so that they are comfortable. At Wholistic Health Centre we understand that caring for children brings with it additional responsibilities. This is why we ensure we practice within the limits of competence, training and experience.

More and more people are seeing the benefits of consulting chiropractors in their later years. Concern that medications are overprescribed and the side effects of combining prescription drugs has led many to seek safe, natural chiropractic care.

Chiropractor Dr John may help restore your spinal function. The adjusting technique Dr John uses will be tailored to your comfort. As we become older and wiser, the effectiveness and simplicity of chiropractic care are more appealing.

Some spinal problems, especially those present since early childhood, may require ongoing care to restore optimum spinal function. Some patients may find that periodic checks at the chiropractor help them stay in tip-top shape. If you are active, have a stressful job or want to feel your best, scheduling preventative visits may help you maintain your good health.

If you only seek chiropractic care when your ache or pain becomes unbearable, this type of crisis management may be costly and time-consuming. We are ready to help you out of pain no matter what your goal is with care. How long you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is your decision.

We understand that sometimes you may not be able to keep your scheduled appointments. If you are unable to attend or need to change your appointment please contact us immediately on 02 9599 6554, so we can reschedule your appointment to a more suitable time for you and offer the appointment to another person in need. To give us time to refill your appointment please give us at least 24 hours notice or a cancellation fee will apply for all initial consultations and regular appointments (excluding chiropractic). Ongoing chiropractic consultations require at least 6hrs notice to reschedule or cancel or a 50% fee applies.

There is no pain associated with adjustments in most cases. People often find that an adjustment is very relaxing.

With some adjusting techniques, you may hear a popping sound. This sound is no cause for concern and is simply a gas released from the joint. Whichever technique is best for you, Chiropractor Dr John uses his skills to administer a safe, effective adjustment.

You may not have received chiropractic care before and understandably want to know what your results will be. Most people can expect some benefits soon after starting care, building on your results as we continue. Research shows that chiropractic care is more economical and effective and gives longer-lasting results for disorders of the spine than other forms of healthcare.

Chiropractic is based on the premise that the body has the ability to self-regulate and self-heal. We focus on the relationship between the structure and function of the body and how that relationship affects the restoration and preservation of your health.

Physiotherapy, according to the Australian Physiotherapy Association, uses a variety of techniques to help your muscles and joints work to their full potential. It can help repair damage by speeding up the healing process and reducing pain and stiffness.

Each individual has different needs and must choose the most appropriate method of care for themselves. We believe that chiropractic, with a central focus on the spine and nervous system, provides a solution that can manage your pain and assist in restoring optimal well-being.

Whatever clothing you wear, we’ll take care of you. At Wholistic Health Centre, your comfort is our priority!

However, we do recommend that your wear light, loose clothing that you are comfortable with. Avoid wearing any bulky clothing. We may ask you to remove your shoes, or any heavy bulky clothing such as a heavy winter jacket or thick jumper. At certain times, we may require certain areas of skin exposed. If this is the case, we will provide you with a gown to wear and use appropriate draping at all times.

If you are seeing a massage therapist, the best way to receive a massage or other bodywork is to be unclothed. Our massage therapist suggests you undress to the level of your comfort and you will be appropriately draped at all times.
