What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy is a progressive and integrative system of specific yoga techniques adapted to suit the requirements of the individual. Through a gentle process of assessment and observation the Yoga Therapist will determine an appropriate Yoga Therapy practice.
The practices used are physical movement (asana), breathing exercises (pranayama) and rest and relaxation (dharana and bhavana). The methodology and approach focuses on achieving balance between physical movement and relaxation. Incorporating rest and calming of the nervous system facilitates the healing process and gives the student time to gain a deeper understanding of their body.
Yoga Therapy programs are specifically geared towards alleviating pain and to restoring good health and wellbeing.
